If you've ever wondered why cognac has been revered as arguably the worlds greatest and most sophisticated single spirit then this bottle is all you will ever need to taste to make you convinced for life. Even at over thirty years of age this is very far from what would even be considered a fully mature Grande Champagne Cognac - and as such it is already leagues ahead of anything in a like class. Originally made by a much beloved husband and wife who tended to their small estate in the heart of the most prized real estate in the entire region made some of their personal cellar in retirement. We hand selected this single cask after tasting it directly from the barrel in the cellars in cognac. Bottled a balanced, natural cask strength with absolutely zero additives and a total yield of only 28 liters. Notes include peach melba, dark chocolate laced with red chiles, dates, brown sugar and sweet pipe tobacco.

Staff Pick Notes

When Cognac is given the proper time to become what it can become, nothing else compares. Grosperrin Cognac sources the hardest to find single casks of Cognac from around each cru (growing region), with Grande Champagne being the most prestigious. Within this cru, the village of Verriéres is located in the "golden triangle", known for its chalky, limestone rich soil. This is where this bottle was born. After over 30 years, it has become the pinnacle of the most haunting aromatics, texture, and flavor that I have ever experienced in a Cognac. The wildflowers, orchard fruits, raw honey, and salted caramel absolutely explode out of the glass, and at 106.2 proof, the finish is spectacular! Factor in the yield of this barrel at only 26L, meaning the vast majority of the original liquid is gone, and we have something too special.
