A beautiful Barbaresco from Cantina del Glicine. While the winery was founded in 1980, its historic cellar dates all the way back to 1582. Fun fact about 1582: thanks to the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar, a week and a half of the year was skipped in many European countries, and we went from October 4th right to October 15th. Aromas of violets and roses entice on the nose. Close your eyes and dream of Piemonte. Wonderfully balanced on the palate with smooth yet firm tannins, strawberries, red cherries, plums, a touch of tobacco, and a lovely leathery earthiness. This is an amazing value for a wine that's drinking very well already and will age gracefully for many years.

Piedmont

The most famous grape in Piedmont is the noble Nebbiolo, which makes the long-lived Barolo and Barbaresco. There are plenty of Nebbiolo-based wines that are quite enjoyable in their youth, however, often produced in smaller, lesser-known regions such as Ghemme or Gattinara.
