The first note comes off as a doughnut dusted with baking spice. Then hot cinnamon, raw cinnamon stick, pear cider, and cane sugar. The bouquet is rounded out with notes of whole clove. The pear cider is back on the palate along with more clean pear flavors. An overall excellent balance of sweet and spice.
Certainty is rare in life, but St. George Spirits is one of those brands where I know that every bottle they put out is going to be great. Based out of Alameda, CA, they're one of the finest craft distillers around, making everything from gins, brandies, and whiskies to fruit-based liqueurs. I'd been eyeing their spiced pear liqueur for ages, wondering what I would do with such a large bottle. Turns out, the creative possibilities are endless. This is full of ripe juicy pears, cinnamon, and cloves. It’s delicious all on its own. But the flavors also team up nicely with any number of other spirits: whiskey, rum, vodka, even sparkling wine. One of my favorites is a riff on a Sidecar: 1 oz Cognac 1 oz. Spiced Pear Liqueur .5 oz simple syrup .5 oz lemon juice
California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.
