It has been years now that the world of gin began moving beyond simply the classic London Dry style that near completely dominated the category for generations. But with all the new gins that have come out since, the ones that have made a memorable impact on our drinking preferences continue to be few and far between. With that in mind, it seems that everything this distiller creates and puts out is unexpected at first then quickly moving into the, "can't live without it," territory once we've tried it. For serious martini lovers like us this gin in particular fits the bill. The savory botanical mix with the additions of Picual, Hojiblanca and Coratina variety olive oils and olive leaves in the recipe make for a sensuous flavor you'll reach for again and again. We're big fans of all things Four Pillars here at Astor, and their newest offering, the Olive Branch Gin, keeps that winning trend going in a big way. Olives and olive oil are two of my favorite things, and I tend to prefer my martinis on the more savory side. This gin was tailor made for people like me who prefer a brinier, dirtier, Mediterranean style of Gin cocktail as opposed to more citrus-forward styles. I think it's a home run. Using olives sourced from the renowned Cobram Estate in Victoria, the Olive Branch Gin is rich, smooth and satisfying with slight salinity. It's got a nice (if not over-long) finish. A perfect companion to your next martini, G&T, or Gibson.
