As the category of Tequila has exploded in popularity, I have come to rely on ArteNOM as the guiding light for authentic and small batch tequila. In tequila law, no one is allowed to bottle from different distilleries under a single brand name. Thus ArteNOM is the brainchild of Jacob Lustig, a maestro of agave who carefully chooses his favorite expressions from different estates and distilleries across Jalisco. The home of NOM 1123 is Tequila Cascahuín, led by Master Distiller Salvador Rosales Torres. From an estate situated in the Lowland of Jalisco, the tequila has a notable presence of green herbs and white pepper on the sip, a signature flavor to this particular release from 1123. While this is still a clear and technically unaged tequila, it is barrel rested for 3-4 weeks in casks that previously held Oaxacan mezcal.

White tequila, an official type (tipo) for tequila bottled fresh from the still, or allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for up to sixty days before bottling. It is never aged in wooden barrels. Also known as plata, plato, and silver tequila. Usually the most robust, strong-flavoured of the tequila types.
